Jeans and Sneakers? Think again

Unless jeans or sneakers are part of your office uniform, like if you are on your feet all day or do construction or home repair, never wear jeans or sneakers to work. It is essential to present yourself with an air of professionalism, even if your business wear and environment is generally casual. The dress code is meant to cater to the lowest common denominator in the workplace. There is no need to box yourself into a smaller or less lucrative role on the corporate ladder. You never know when someone higher up is going to be looking for someone to fill some nicer shoes in a nicer office with a nicer annual salary. It is not just your abilities that are important – it is to your benefit to look the part. You will never see CEOs wearing denim in his office, so dress as though you had already achieved your ambition. Why not simply wear a nice pair of classic pants, nice dress shirt, simple blzer and classic cufflinks to top it off. Look like a winner, not an underachiever.
